We spent the last couple of days with the Big Schwag. He is a really down to earth guy who spent some time with my wife Heather and I. Monday morning we started out by first taking a look at his car for a potential turbo build. His car is straight, solid without any rust, it is looks like a built in the late 70s or early 80s. With a 340, 727 automatic and a 8 3/4" rear this is a good candidate for a turbo build. After a good look at the car he gave me the keys and told me to take it for a spin. I did have to do a good line lock burnout to show him how to keep the front tires locked. After looking at his car we got on the road to take a trip to Exile Cycles. The guys at Exile Cycles were cool and spent some time showing us their bikes. I really liked their trike. The guys there really have a talent for CNC one off parts. After spending time there we went to Original Productions for a tour of the place that they do the editing and the voice over stuff for Monster Garage, Deadliest Catch, Monster House, Monster Nation, The Messengers, Biker Build Off, Ballroom Boot Camp, Dead Tenants and Ultimate Plastic Surgery. This place was cool, the art work around the place was just unreal, cool plasma cut metal that was cut into flames, masks, different cool art work. Tables were made out of airplane wings, Chevy truck fenders and the chairs were made out of different pieces of steel then painted.. At every turn there was something else very cool. All of the heating duct work was held up by chain then screwed into the ceiling. All of the cool stuff in the studio was made by a place called Vulture Kulture, check them out. We were introduced to the head guy Tomas Beers the president who by the way was really cool and a hard core car guy to boot. Then we talked to the Co-producer of Monster Garage Tod Mesirow who had a plasma cut piece of steel on his wall that was shaped like the USA with all of the states and major water bodies outlined by a plasma cutter. After we were done drooling at all the cool stuff and watching the guys do some editing for Deadliest Catch we went on to the place that they keep all of the cars that Monster Garage built. We saw all of the different bikes, cars, trucks from the first season on. It was really cool. We spent a couple of hours there and were given some cool Monster Garage "Crew" shirts. At this point, the day was coming to an end so we caught some dinner at The Cheese Cake Factory talked a little more about Schwag's car then went to my grandma's house for the night. The second day of our trip we went to West Coast Choppers in Long Beach. We were able to look around at all of the bikes and some cars it was a cool stop. Then we went on to Car Crazy Central.com which is a Meguires Car Care owned company, Schwag showed me around all of the cool car stuff like the conference table made out of a LS1 and a turbo 4 cylinder, even the chairs were Sperco. There were a bunch of different car stuff everywhere around the place. Check out the site Car Crazy Central. We did a 5 minute radio interview with Big Schwag for Car Crazy Central. It will be available on the internet soon.
